Our poor son...

So I have to take a minute and write about an unfortunate event in the life of our little Oscar. March 1st was not such a lucky day for him. It started out well, he got to go to work with mom which is always very exciting. He spent most of the day playing around with Corky, the dog of mom's officemate, and had a nice long walk with mom at lunch. All was going well but that afternoon someone walked out the door to mom's office and Oscar had that split second chance to escape out into the world, and by golly he took it. It just happened that the UPS guy was delivering at that moment and had the two doors at the front of the building propped open. Again a perfect chance for Oscar to make his way out into the world to check it out. We've decided what happened was he decided to head across the street to get a mocha but didn't quite make it....a car clipped him on his hind end. My coworker had run after him while I went to grab his leash, and by the time I got out there he was walking up holding a very battered Oscar. Needless to say it was awful, we rushed immediately to the vet and I was very happy to hear that he was going to make it but not so happy to hear he had some major trauma to his back leg. It's been a tough week for us, considering that darn little dog is like a child to us!! He spent a couple days at the vet but has been home for a few days doing a LOT of sleeping with a very big bandage on his leg and is one sad little doggie. They will need to do surgery in a couple weeks once it settles down (it's torn up really badly) and with some better luck he will be running around like the good old days within a few months. So say a prayer for the little guy! Thank you to those who have given him some really nice cards, treats and toys!!!
