Mischief

Ben is doing all kinds of new things since I last wrote..crawling, climbing, and hence getting into absolutely everything. Today he felt especially mischievous, so I made sure to snap pics throughout the day. (with my new camera I got for my birthday, thanks to Mike!) The day started out like any other...with a bottle and a snuggle and then getting straight down to the business of playing. Instead of pulling his toys out this morning he decided to go to them and just crawl on into the shelf where they're stored.

Next when he got bored with that, he heard me in the kitchen and decided to see if he could help out. He's tried to do this before, and I always stopped him thinking it was a really bad idea. But...not today, I decided to grab my camera instead when he started to actually climb into the dishwasher.

Then he thought maybe we needed to take the trash out. Never before has he ever figured out how to open a cupboard...but I'm telling ya, today was the day of mischief and new discoveries. Mike had to install one of those annoying door latch things to childproof as soon as he got home from work!

Then, his friend Will came over to play and that means double trouble. Actually we really just hung out, played, and ate goldfish. However mom had to post this picture of them and point out that
Will is only 10 days younger than Ben...and look at the height difference! I know Will wasn't kneeling and don't think Ben was standing on his tippy toes. :)

Then Dad came home and he decided to show him how he likes to sit in small baskets. He emptied all his toys out of his basket and plopped his bum down. Then he decided to kick doggie out of his bed and check out his basket. He's pretty entertaining!

New Game

Ben and Oscar have in the last couple of days created a new little game that they play called chase the bone. Now, before you get too grossed out, I must point out that for some reason Oscar's bone is the one and only object in the entire world that Ben doesn't put immediately into his mouth. It makes him much happier to share it with the doggie and he lets out a little giggle every time Oscar takes it from him. The game goes like this: Oscar has the bone in his mouth and either comes up to Ben or Ben chases him down. Oscar drops the bone, Ben picks it up and holds it out for Oscar, Oscar takes the bone and moves to another nearby location. Then it starts all over again, Ben crawls to Oscar and so forth. Oscar is so good and gentle with him, he'll very delicately bite onto one end of the bone in order to avoid any little fingers and takes it from him. Ben giggles and the game continues...it's very entertaining for us all! I give all the credit to Oscar for teaching Ben to crawl in just a few short days!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas! It may not look like we're having the best time around the Hagman household, but trust me we are! This was just the best shot I have of Ben's first two teeth on the bottom...and I suspect some are coming on the top. Ben is 8 1/2 months and growing and changing at an alarming rate. He's really getting more active and wanting to stand as much as possible now, and will rock on all fours but still doesn't have tooo much interest in crawling. He's eating all kinds of food now, every baby food out there but also some finger foods. Which has proved to be such a great thing because he can entertain himself for a long time shoving things in his mouth! He's still a great sleeper, always sleeping through the night except for when he just had his first ear infection about a month ago...that wasn't fun. He has a blast during his two days a week at daycare, and we love our Miss Sally so much. Mom loves to have a little variety and likes her job, and Dad just got to go to Australia for 10 days for work, so he's got a pretty good gig too. We're looking forward to having some time off during the holidays to spend as a family! Happy Holidays to you all! As always, lots more pics here: http://hagman.shutterfly.com/action/

Five Months

More pictures here: http://hagman.shutterfly.com/action/

Ben is now 5 months old and just barrels of fun! He's getting so big, he's tall and slim like his dad and we've started on some solids which have been a lot of fun. He loves to sit in his high chair and scarf down rice cereal, applesauce, and the latest is sweet potatoes. He rolled over a few times over a month ago, but is way more into sitting up or standing in his exersaucer than lying on the floor so we haven't seen much more of that. Over Labor Day weekend we rented a yurt up by Idaho City for one night and it was so much fun, he slept like a champ like he always does. He's always slept through the night since about 6 weeks, but we've started bumping back his bedtime and now he goes down around 8:30 and sleeps until we wake him up, sometime between 7 and 8. He laughs all the time, especially at his silly little doggie Oscar. He's an amazing kid! Here is a sample of the giggle monster....

Three Months

Our little munchkin turned three months last week and is growing like a weed! He's a very smiley and happy guy, and is making life very easy and enjoyable for his mom and dad. He's doing all the things they do at this age...like cooing and blowing bubbles, grabbing at his toys, and he's contemplating rolling over. I've returned to work 3 days a week and it's the perfect combination, his sitter is working out great. He's the youngest of about 5 kids that range up to 4, and he has great fun just taking in all the action and all the kids cheer when Ben shows up! He was just baptized this past weekend, and his godmother Auntie Melissa and Auntie Mindy came into town which was fun, so the whole family was here! We have a new website for pictures, so you can see more here: http://hagman.shutterfly.com/action/
